Free Chemistry Tutorials For All Ages!

Do you want to learn chemistry?  Are you having trouble with chemistry?  Are you having trouble spelling “chemistry”?  Do you have an Internet connection?

If these things sound familiar, I can help through the miracle of the Internet.  Something to do with a series of tubes, I’m told.

So come have a look!  You don’t have to give me money, you don’t need to sign up for anything, and you don’t even have to have an Internet connection.  Well, maybe you need the last thing, but aside from that, this site is yours to enjoy and learn from.  I also occasionally update the site, so keep your eyes open and you may find the most recent thing that I updated today!  And, of course, learn chemistry!

Peace and best wishes,

Ian Guch

hi, I just wanted to say that I’ve been using your website ever since 2018 to help with my chemistry classes because everything else has pointless fancy wording. thanks for helping me out, im sure u helped a lot of other people out too 🙂

  3. I found this website from your old Socratic account, and I’d like to say thank you for adding so much curriculum to your website. https://web.archive.org/web/20151107073257/http://socratic.org/users/ian-g

  4. Dear Mr. Guch:

Still wondering, is your name pronounced g-OO-ch or g-uhh-ch?
These two science kids have grown up now. We still love chili.

    Thanks always.

You probably don’t remember me, but I met with you about 17-18 years ago when I was contracted to teach Chemistry at a private school in Louisiana. I met you and you gave me a ton of resources, lots of advice and help, and bought me lunch. I have appreciated your resources all these years and am thankful for your generosity. Now, in 2023, I am teaching Chemistry once again (it’s more of a survey class–we only meet once a week) and had to re-learn everything I forgot. I came here and am delighted to see all your resources are still available! We’re working on VSEPR this week and it is foggy for me, so I’m digging in to see if I can pick it back up.

    Thank you again!

    Sarah

Hello Mr. Guch I was wondering which lesson would match with this prompt- Energy and energy potential of electrons. My teacher said it has something to do with Orbitals vs Arrangements of electrons.

    Mr. Guch,
You may not remember me, but I was one of your students at Holy Child. This must have been…. eek 23ish years ago? You inspired me to love Chemistry and I ended up majoring in Chemistry in college. I remember so much from your class. Setting your own arm on fire- may have been the highlight of my entire educational experience. You had a huge impact on me in many ways and I think about you whenever I reminisce about Chemistry. I’d like to think it is not a coincidence that you updated your comment page just a few days before I found your page again. I do hope you see this comment and would love to re-connect with you. Hey Maureen! I’m so glad that you became a chemist! I remember you from my class and it doesn’t surprise me a bit that you’ve entered the world of science. Though hopefully you’re not wearing that silly uniform anymore.

If you’re around and want to get together this summer sometime for lunch, hit me with an email. misterguch@chemfiesta.com. I’d love to meet your husband/child/pet/live-in nanny/anybody else you hang out with!
